Budget & Finance Analyst

Job Description

Partnering with an organization seeking a Budget & Finance Analyst to support their Finance leadership team. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, advanced Excel abilities, and experience working with complex, multi-funded grant environments. This is a hybrid schedule working 3 days onsite and 2 days work from home.

?? What You'll Do in This Role

This position supports financial oversight of numerous funding streams-including government grants and privately funded programs-while collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities include:

Grant Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Build, review, and maintain complex Excel workbooks used for budgeting, forecasting, and grant tracking
  • Monitor program spending, analyze variances, and provide financial insights to leadership
  • Review grant expenditures, allocations, drawdowns, and cash flow to ensure compliance with funding requirements
  • Prepare, update, and monitor grant budgets and actuals across multiple funding sources
  • Review subrecipient submissions and prepare invoices for funders

Reporting & Compliance

  • Assist with audit preparation for programs supported by federal, state, local, or private funding
  • Support the preparation of annual projections and multi-grant budgeting processes
  • Ensure financial documentation, reporting obligations, and closeout requirements are submitted on time
  • Maintain updated schedules related to federal award expenditures and grant funding activity
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards

Collaboration & Technical Support

  • Work closely with program managers, grant administrators, and financial leadership
  • Provide technical guidance to non-finance staff regarding grant budgets and reporting
  • Help maintain SharePoint files and contribute to process improvements within the Finance department

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong technical Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, macros, financial modeling)
  • Experience managing financial data, budgets, or grant-related reporting
  • Experience in government or nonprofit grant accounting
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working with financial systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • Knowledge of GAAP, uniform guidance, and federal funding regulations
